«Silver Economics» A New Approach to the Problem of Aging

«Silver Economics» A New Approach to the Problem of Aging

Journal of Economic Regulation, , Vol. 9 (no. 1),

The author of the article suggests addressing the problems of the elderly population in terms of incentives for the development of the Russian economy. Given the aging of the population and the projected growth in the number of people over working age, their relative density in the population of the country, the increase in the demographic burden and gender disproportions, the preservation of established attitudes and stereotypes towards the elderly population entails serious political, financial and social risks. This state of affairs viewed unequivocally as one of the most serious challenges of the 21st century, affecting the state's financial policy and the philosophy of standards for work and attitude towards older people. The article draws attention to the global trend of population aging, employment growth of older people, motivation for employment, as well as the experience of developed countries in the issues of population aging. Factors capable of demoralizing the older generation are revealed, as a result of which they do not take an active part in the life of society and the economy of the country. Proposals are made to accumulate the potential of people of pension and pre-retirement age into the resource of the society. Based on the analysis of available information, suggestions are made on the development of economic policies and policies of the state in relation to working older people.
